DESCRIPTION:This event has been Canceled due to the Federal shutdown.\nThe 2025 Fortify Cybersecurity Education Series focuses on providing information to businesses and other organizations in Hawaii that they can use to improve their defenses against cyber-attacks.  This series seeks to provide practical information that can be implemented whether or not an organization has a dedicated IT or cybersecurity team. \nThis year’s series will focus on the following topics. \n\nHuman elements of Cybersecurity\nIdentity and Access Management (IAM) – a Zero Trust journey\nVulnerability Management\nSecurity on Demand Incident Response\n\nEach of these topics will be covered in two sessions spaced about a month apart.  The first session will provide information on threats and approaches for defending against them.  Materials will be made available that your organization can use to assess your readiness against the threats described.  This session will be held online. \nThe second session\, a month later\, will bring the same attendees back together to discuss how ready their organization is based on the materials provided and what (if any) gaps they are planning to address.  This session is participatory\, and attendees are expected to interact with each other and the moderators.  This session will be in person with a remote attendance option. \nThese sessions are free to any Hawaii business or resident who is interested in improving their cybersecurity defenses.  These sessions are brought to you by CyberHawaii\, the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) as well as other government agencies such as the FBI and Hawaii Office of Homeland Security. \nIncident Response\n1st meeting:  Tuesday October 28\, 2025; 2-3pm. \n2nd meeting:  Tuesday November 18\, 2025; time TBD. \nInformation on the second meeting will be sent to attendees of the first meeting following completion. \nTopics to be covered \n\nPreparation\nDetection and analysis\nContainment\, eradication and recovery\n\nMore information will be provided to attendees. \n  \n

DESCRIPTION:The inaugural “Introduction to Cybersecurity: Cyber Hygiene” clinic will be held on Wednesday\, January 21\, from noon to 1 p.m.\, HST\, via Zoom. \nRegister Here \nSmall businesses are frequent targets for cybercriminals\, often due to limited resources. This clinic provides critically important\, routine practices to protect networks and data. Debasis Bhattacharya\, professor and program coordinator of the UH Maui College Applied Business and Information Technology Program\, said cyber hygiene is “very much like maintaining personal health.” He will lead the workshops with David Stevens\, assistant professor at Kapiʻolani Community College. \n \nThe introductory session will cover fundamental topics\, including: \n\nStrong password policies and multi-factor authentication\nRegular software updates and patching\nData backups and recovery\nEmployee training and awareness\nSecure network and devices\nAccess controls and incident response planning\n\nNo professional technical background is required\, only fundamental knowledge of the internet. Additional information about this and subsequent events may be found here. \nThese sessions are offered at no cost\, thanks to a collaboration between Google’s Cybersecurity Clinics Fund and the Consortium of Cybersecurity Clinics\, which provided $1 million in grant funding to establish the University of Hawaiʻi Cybersecurity Clinics.
